The Department of Child Development (JPKK) was officially established to replace the functions of the Child Division under the Social Welfare Department (JKM). The establishment of this dedicated department demonstrates the strong commitment of the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) to strengthening Malaysia's child protection, welfare, and development ecosystem in a comprehensive and holistic manner.

UNIT INFO
INSTITUTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN POTENTIAL UNIT
1.Plan, coordinate, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and activities related to child development, vocational training, academic, religious and personality
2.Plan, coordinate and evaluate religious and moral programs for children in institutions
3.Plan, coordinate and evaluate academic programs and skills training for children in institutions
4.Plan and coordinate vocational skills program in line with the Malaysian Skills Certification Program in institutions
5.Plan and coordinate module / curriculum-related programs for children in institutions
6.To coordinate programs development of children’s potential with NGOs, the corporate sector, statutory bodies, especially regarding Corporate Social Responsibility program with the department.
REHABILITATION AND SOCIAL JUSTICE FOR CHILDREN UNIT
1.Plan, coordinate and monitor the management of cases of children who are involved in moral danger, immediate protection, criminal and uncontrolled in institutions and in the community or region.
2.Inspection and monitoring activities and programs in rehabilitation institutions
3.Coordinate the appointment of members of the Child Welfare Committee of the Regions (JKKD) and monitor program activities JKKD.
4.Coordinate and oversee the appointment of a member of the Board of Visitors of Rehabilitation Institution.
5.Plan, coordinate and monitor the rehabilitation program based on smart partnerships with government and private agencies

CHILD PROTECTION UNIT
1.Coordinate management, and program activities in the Children's Home (RKK) and Rumah Tunas Harapan (RTH)
2.Coordinate and oversee the appointment of the Board of Visitors RKK and RTH
3.To coordinate and monitor the cases related to abuse, neglect, abandonment or exposure of children to dangerous situations by AKK 2001.
4.Coordinate and monitor case management, records and placement of foster children (section 31 AKK 2001)
5.Coordinate case management compliance with section 35, AKK 2001
6.Coordinate case management under the Anti-Trafficking of Persons and Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 (ATIP)
7.Plan, monitor and coordinate the Child Protection Team (PPKK) and the Children Activity Centre (PAKK)
