INTRODUCTION
Division of Policy and International Relations began operations on 1st January 2014 as a result of the restructuring of the Department of Social Welfare (DSW).
The Division consists of four (4) unit as follows:
a) Policy and International Relations of Social Work Unit
b) Policy and International Relations of Older Persons Unit
c) Policy and International Relations of Children Unit
d) Policy and International Relations of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) Unit
DIVISION FUNCTIONS:
The Policy and International Relations Division is responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring, managing and responding to any issues, activities, programs, actions and commitments related to international cooperation and policies supported by the Department of Social Welfare.
The target group of this Division as stated below:
1. Operational Divisions such as Department for the Development of Persons with Disabilities, Division of children, Division of older persons, Division of Productive Welfare and Division of Community.
2. International Stakeholders which are committed to the functions of the Department such as UNICEF, UNESCAP, Senior Official Meeting on Social Welfare Development (SOMSWD), and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
UNIT FUNCTIONS:
A. POLICY AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS OF SOCIAL WORK UNIT
1. To coordinate Government's commitment to the resolutions, policies, action plans and conventions that agreed at national and international level related to social work and welfare services;
2. To coordinate and monitor the programmes / activities between technical and relevant international bodies related to social work and welfare services;
3. To coordinate preparation of the visits reports, conferences, seminars and workshops at domestic and international level related to social work and welfare services;
4. To establish and enhance network collaboration at international level related to social work and welfare services;
5. To coordinate the preparation of officers to attend meetings, seminars, workshops, conferences and visits at local and international level related to social work and welfare services;
6. To manage, monitor and provide feedback on collaboration programs in between the Government and international bodies;
7. To coordinate international relations meetings on social work and welfare services;
8. Secretariat of overseas visits related to social work and welfare services;
9. To coordinate reviews, amendments and drafting of laws, regulations and rules under the purview of the department;
10. To plan and implement a series of information and advocacy to the public, department staff, government agencies and the target group about the services and programs of the department;
11. To provide information on laws, regulations and conventions acceded by the government for publication and dissemination through printed materials (brochures/pamphlets/calendar/diary), broadcasting in printed and electronic media;
12. To coordinate and provide feedback on the Policy and Action Plan of the Ministry and other relevant agencies related to the target group of the department;
13. Secretariat of the Senior Officials Meeting on Social Welfare and Development (SOMSWD) for the department;
14. To coordinate officers to attend the meetings/workshops/seminars/courses at overseas which are requested by the ministry;
15. Secretariat of the Department Policy Committee Meeting;
16. Secretariat of overseas delegation visits;
17. To provide briefing about the Department's services to the Ministry and department visitors;
18. To coordinate the Division's budgetary;
19. To coordinate feedback from the Division’s for Ministry's Policy Committee Meetings, Top Management Meetings, Head of Division Meetings, Morning Meetings and Account Management and Finance Meetings;
20. Secretariat of Parliamentary Affairs at department level.
B. POLICY AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS OF OLDER PERSONS UNIT
1. To coordinate Government's commitment to the resolutions, policies, action plans and conventions that agreed at international level related to older persons;
2. To coordinate the implementation of international commitments related to older persons;
3. To coordinate and monitor programmes/activities between technical and international bodies related to older persons;
4. To coordinate preparation of visit reports, conferences, seminars and workshops at domestic and international level related to older persons;
5. To establish and enhance network collaboration at international level related to older persons;
6. To manage, monitor and provide feedback on collaboration programs in between the Government and International bodies;
7. To coordinate the preparation of officers to attend meetings, seminars, workshops, conferences and visits at local and international level related older persons;
8. To coordinate international relations meetings related to older persons;
9. Secretariat of overseas meetings related to older persons

11. To coordinate older persons issues referred to the department;
12. To coordinate the implementation of Government's commitment with implementing agencies at national level related to older persons and destitute people;
13. To plan, drafting policies and action plans related to older persons and destitute people;
14. To coordinate and monitor the implementation of policies and action plans related to older persons and destitute people;
15. To coordinate reviews, amendments and drafting of laws, regulations and rules related to older persons and destitute people;
16. To plan and implement a series of information and advocacy to the public, department staff, government agencies and the target group about the services and programs of the department; and
