Definition of "Older Persons"

Based on the definition by World Assembly On Ageing 1982 in Vienna, 'Older Persons’
refers to people aged 60 years and above.

Monetary Assistance

RM600/month is provided as a living allowance to the 'warga emas' that require monetary assistance in order for them to live in the community. This allowance is called Bantuan Warga Emas (BWE).

Eligibility:
Person aged 60 years old and above with no income and no family. Or a family that are not financially able to assist them.

How To Apply:

Application can be submitted by walk-in to any of the nearest JKM Offices/Branches. For applicants who are unable to submit in person submission can be sent via letter, phone call or email. The list of JKM Offices/Branches with their address and contact number can be found via directory in this website. Applicant is advised to prepare the necessary documents in advance in order to facilitate the application. The documents needed are a copy of the applicant's Identification Certificate, a copy of Identification Certificate of the applicant's family who live with them, a copy of salary slip (if applicable), passport size photo or any other documents that are deemed fit to support the application.

Artificial Assistance

Artificial Devices / Artificial Aids (BAT / AS)
Assitance for handicapped citizens to acquire prosthetic limbs, callipers, walking sticks, crutches, wheelchairs, hearing aids, service spectacles, supportive footwear and other such equipment recommended by doctors and specialists. The equipment mentioned will assist these citizens to further their lives independently.

The United Nations has declared, following Resolution No. 45 / 106, the 1st of October as International Senior Citizen Day. Since 1992 the Malaysian Government has declared the 1st of October as National Senior Citizen Day.
